Becoming vintners and making wine has been a long and deliberate process for us and developed from an interest in wine to purchasing our first vineyard in 2015. We took our first viticulture class in California around 2009 and were able to book our first success in 2011 when Gesa won Gold in the Riesling category at the Del Mar Fair in California. Granted, the wine was made with a wine kit, but nevertheless it was one of the first steps toward becoming a vintner.
We bought an old vintner home in Mesenich, Germany in 2009. There are many wonderful wineries in the Mosel area creating excellent and diverse wines. With a lot of work and the help and support of our local vintners who are always willing to share their expertise and know-how (that has often been accumulated over many generations) we were able to become winemakers ourselves.
With our backgrounds in engineering and programming (Frank) and the fine arts (photography) we combine planning and problem-solving skills with a creative approach and hope, together with our passion for the area, to create unique and memorable wines.
